Have you ever heard of the Baltimore Women’s Classic 5K Run? I learned of this event in 2010 while volunteering with Women In Wellness at the water stations. I was amazed at all the women (and children) running and walking. There was such a power there; hundreds of women of different ages, shapes, & sizes were out celebrating life and making a statement about their health while raising funds to help women in treatment for gynecological cancer.
I was so inspired that I have decided to not only join the race this year but also gather a team of women to do this 5K (3 mile) trot with me. As a practitioner with Women In Wellness, I am recruiting women to be on our team. We are offering a free 7-week well rounded training opportunity to race participants. This includes exercise and Aikido classes, walks or runs around Goucher College, a nutritional class, a grocery store tour and a cooking class. We get started Tuesday May 3rd, 2011. Click here to print the training schedule or scroll down to the bottom of this page. We will encourage and help you prepare for this event at your own pace. You have a choice to run the race or walk.
BWC offers other training opportunities around the city including a Wednesday evening group at Goucher College directly across from the Women In Wellness office. A list of these additional training locations and registration details are obtainable on the BWC website.
To learn more about the event and to register, simply visit the website (http://www.baltimorewomensclassic.com/index.html) We currently have registration & pledge forms available at our office. Remember to put Women in Wellness as your team and me, Kidada Fields (Kidada@womeninwellnessmd.com) as your team captain. The event is Sunday, June 26th 8am at Rash Field, downtown Baltimore.
We are also building a team of volunteers to work at the water station. Contact Cara Michele (cm@womeninwellnessmd.com) to add your name to the list. We are looking for 15 people to distribute water to race participants working to get to the finish line. Your efforts will be greatly appreciated.
As the team captain, I am ecstatic to start the training, get out there and have some fun with you. Contact me if you are interested in joining us (Kidada@womeninwellnessmd.com).
