Wow! Amazing! Unbelievable! Inspiring!
These are the words that come to mind when I think about this past weekend’s Baltimore Women’s Classic 5K. 2500 women of all age, shapes, and sizes encouraging and challenging themselves and each other to complete the 3.1 mile course.
Women in Wellness had the great honor of being in the thick of all the excitement and activity. I was fortunate enough to have one of the best seats in the house as one of the many volunteers at the water stations. We went from the quiet activity of getting to know each other and filling the cups to the overwhelming energy of 2500 women charging towards us within a matter of minutes. Talk about a rush!! Without prompting we all rang our cow bells and cheered for all the feminine warriors facing their fears and the oppressing heat.
There were several moments where I found it challenging to hold on to my tears and focus on my job as cup girl. Seeing all those brave women touched my heart and reminded me of my reasons for starting Women in Wellness. There is no doubt in my heart that every women who woke up that morning to run, walk or volunteer returned home with a huge sense of accomplishment and a better sense of their true greatness.
I want to thank all of the women who joined our Women in Wellness team as runners and walkers. I also hold deep gratitude for all of our volunteers and practitioners who helped at our table and water stations. Finally, a big THANKS to the organizers of the race itself. Because you all moved forward with your dreams and passions, we all benefited. Check out our facebook page for more photos.
