Do you live in or near Towson, MD? If so, you have many opportunities to live a healthy life, thanks to many health and wellness promoting places near you. It’s amazing how we can live years in the same area without discovering that wonderful fresh produce stand down the street or a Mediterranean restaurant a few blocks away. Today, we’ll list a few of the places in Towson and Lutherville-Timonium areas you might or might not know about. Maybe they are already your favorites, or maybe you’ll find a new favorite spot for food shopping, dining, yoga or acupuncture in Towson!
The Towson Farmers’ Market
The Towson Farmers’ Market offers a variety of locally grown, organic foods you won’t find in big-chain grocery stores. Formerly located on the Allegheny Avenue, the market has recently moved to Washington Avenue near the Old Courthouse and is open Thursdays from 10:45AM till 3:00PM. If you work nearby, stop by the Towson Farmers’ Market on your lunch break to stock up on fresh seasonal veggies.

The Natural Market
The Natural Market is located in the Timonium Shopping Center across from Timonium Fairgrounds. It’s a great place for a variety of natural and organic products, such as gluten-free foods, wholefood supplements, fair trade chocolate, locally produced dairy, natural skincare and many other items. And after you are done shopping, stop by their vegetarian deli and juice bar, The Wild Carrot, to grab a bite or a vitamin-packed smoothie.

Women in Wellness
Women in Wellness is your local Towson acupuncture and nutrition counseling center. We might be biased, but the level of customer care, physical help and emotional support we provide is hard to find in larger acupuncture clinics. Many of them are actually spas, offering acupuncture as one of the services, while we specialize in Healthy You as a whole. You probably drive by our office on Dulaney Valley road a few times a week – stop by one of those times! We are located just a few blocks north from the Towson Town Center and are open on most weekdays – check our schedule.
MOM’S Organic Market
MOM’s takes eco-friendly to the new level with their compostable produce bags and refusal to carry bagged products that can be purchased loose. You can shop there for local, fresh seasonal produce, groceries and wellness goods, such as wholefood supplements, vitamins, homeopathic remedies and many more! MOM’S Organic Market has strong values and doesn’t sell items that market directly to children – you won’t find cereals with cartoon characters in their store. You can find MOM’s in the Yorkridge Shopping Center in Timonium, MD next to Kohl’s and Michaels.

Sid Yoga Center
Sid Yoga Center is operated by the coach and yoga instructor Sid McNairy. He and his staff offer a wide variety of classes, programs, workshops and retreats for yoga enthusiasts of all skill levels. Sid Yoga Center is located on the York Rd. at the heart of Towson, just a few blocks from the circle. If you just moved to the area or looking for a new yoga studio, this is a great one to try.

Trader Joe’s in Towson
Trader Joe’s is a grocery chain specializing in hard-to-find organic, gourmet, vegetarian, vegan and fair trade foods and goods. They’ve been around since 1950s and have earned their reputation as a go-to store for healthy and unusual foods you can’t find in a traditional supermarket. The Towson Trader Joe’s is located close to the Towson Town Center in the same building as Pier 1 Imports and Barnes & Noble.

Zia’s Cafe
Located on the busy Allegheny Avenue, Zia’s Cafe is actually within a walking distance from Trader Joe’s. Zia’s serves food in many formats: it’s a cafe, a juice bar and a place for delicious carryout. They cater to all kinds of picky eaters and diet-conscious folks by offering vegetarian, vegan, paleo and gluten-free options. Choose from over 50 menu items, including sandwiches, wraps, salads, juices, smoothies and hot drinks. Zia’s also offers their own branded juice clenses and catering.
