Who is Cara-Michele?
I am a woman on a mission to find out how little it takes to feel strong and full of vitality most days of our lives. As an owner and primary practitioner of a growing wellness center and lead adult and children’s instructor of a martial arts dojo, wife, daughter, sister and friend, I know the physical and mental demands of striving to give as much as I can to everyone and everything that matters.
I am 5 feet 4 inches and have weighed as much as 190 lbs. in my adult life. In my early 30s, a severe back injury kept me from walking at all and then from walking long distances without pain for a few years. I know what it’s like to have my body fail. Over the years, I have poured myself into learning and trying diets, eating plans, exercise — you name it — so that I could heal myself and learn how to best help my clients.
Today at 170 lbs. I feel great. I work longer hours with more focus and clarity than ever. Yes, I could lose a few more pounds and at times I dabble at it. When I’m stressed, my cortisol levels rise and I weigh more. During smoother times I weigh less. Truth be told, the numbers are not my number one priority. Right now, I’m easing out of a really busy time, and even though the scale still says 170, I’m fitting into pants that I could not have fit in 3 months ago. My big priority is being fully present in my life, and I love having the energy to do that.
I believe that our true potential can only be accessed when we have a vessel — our body and brain — capable of wielding it. In other words, only when we feel really well can we do really well.
In my quest to learn as much as I can, I have earned a Master’s degree in Acupuncture, a certification in Whole Food Nutrition with over 200 hours of nutrition training, and a certification in Personal Training. These degrees and certificates are useful, but I think what allows me to be most useful is all of the one-on-one hours I have spent with hundreds of clients wanting to get the most out of their lives.
